I would let go of a lot of things for the sake of harmony. I am someone who prefers peace and tries to practice the mantra of, “It takes two to argue.” I find that listening empathetically, especially in my personal relationships, yields much better results and I walk away from difficult situations feeling good about myself. It is much better than walking away having “won” or “lost” an argument. Sometimes, we are forced to fight when peace becomes untenable, but most of the time, a lot of our conflicts stem from not being able to be inside each other’s body and mind to fully appreciate what is going on in that other person. If I have to fight for my kids or family, I can be quite tenacious, but this rarely needs to take place because in general, I don’t get those combative responses.
