I would like to attempt being an astronaut if guaranteed not to fail. Ever since I watched the first Star Wars, space truly captured my imagination. Space exploration always carries with it so much risk and uncertainty. Getting there nowadays takes a lot of money, or going through an extremely rigorous selection process.
“It is far better to grasp the universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.”-Carl Sagan–Carl Sagan
The thought of instantly freezing to death if being exposed without an EVA suit, and all the unknowns that go into it fascinate me. We are just a tiny little rock in the middle of a sea of stars, that is in an even larger sea of stars, separated by impossible distances. These are the clothes left to us of our origins and purpose. Space always reminds me that we have very little real understanding of anything, as much as we would like to pretend we do.
I will say though, it is quite exciting to live in a time when so much is being learned. Humanity is beginning to reach beyond our own solar system and deeper within it. Perhaps breakthroughs in the next century will make space travel much more realistic for us. It would be amazing to explore new worlds and be able to measure things for scientific purposes at greater proximity.
